The role of Director, Marketing Engagement & Education - US Oncology, is part of the Strategy & Operations team within the commercial organization at Janssen Biotech, responsible for strategic planning, marketing engagement, education, and congress strategy across the oncology portfolio, with a focus on speaker bureau, sponsorships, and fee-for-service contracting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Marketing Engagements & Education Team (MEET) strategy and operational excellence for speaker bureau, fee-for-service contracting, sponsorships, and purchase orders across the oncology organization.
  • Develop and execute business planning, budgeting, vendor management, and stakeholder management for MEET initiatives.
  • Create and maintain policies and training to ensure compliance and accountability within MEET activities.
  • Partner with external contracting organizations to hire, manage, and develop contracted staff involved in sponsorship and fee-for-service roles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Brand Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Legal, Compliance, and external vendors to execute commercial activities.
  • Identify opportunities for operational innovation and improvement, including new policies, procedures, and technology.
  • Oversee speaker training, meetings, and event coordination, managing budgets and external agencies for optimal execution.
  • Ensure alignment of MEET priorities with various internal teams and external partners, solving business challenges in a matrix environment.
  • Implement industry-leading practices to enhance customer stakeholder experiences at speaker programs and sponsorships.
  • Ensure strict adherence to legal, regulatory, compliance, and procurement guidelines.
  • Lead talent management activities including recruitment, onboarding, training, and career development for the team.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience in areas such as Sales, Sales Training, Professional Education, Operations, Brand Marketing, or Sales Management.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing, including FDA regulatory, legal environment, and compliance regulations.
  • Proven experience in driving business growth and strategic initiatives through marketing education.
  • Ability to translate business strategy into effective education solutions supporting company goals.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across functions and levels in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and talent management experience, including coaching and developing teams.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple large-scale events and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience leading process improvements and sharing best practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including domestic overnight and weekend travel; limited international travel.
  • In-person collaboration at the office 3 days per week.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Oncology.
  • Experience working with sales, marketing, and medical education teams.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, and innovative training modalities.
  • Familiarity with internal systems such as Totality, ARIBA, IMPROVE, iMedical, and CentrisDirect.
