Job Description

About the Role

The Director of Business Systems Applications oversees, maintains, tests, and administers assigned PeopleSoft and integrated software systems across multiple functional areas. The role involves serving as a liaison between users, technical teams, and vendors, providing system-related expertise, and ensuring operational efficiency and strategic alignment within the organization at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Missouri.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple functional areas, make critical systems decisions, determine key business process changes, and set strategic priorities for team goals and projects.
  • Supervise four student service modules and manage a team of 7-10 employees, including prioritizing work, conducting performance evaluations, coordinating staff training, and handling hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
  • Manage project operations related to testing, troubleshooting, updates, and upgrades of software systems, including certifying updates, monitoring project status, and planning implementation strategies.
  • Provide oversight and monitor technical requirements, research and modify user requests, evaluate new software functionalities, and implement business process changes.
  • Research and analyze new and current business processes to improve performance and data quality, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Communicate with end users, provide technical support and training, troubleshoot software issues, and develop solutions for system-related questions.
  • Serve as a liaison with the IT department, staff, and external personnel to facilitate projects and departmental operations.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain reports, documentation, and communication files related to systems, processes, and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five (5) years of application development, system solution management, or related PeopleSoft experience.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, protocols, and methods of institutional computing applications.
  • Skilled in diagnosing problems, developing solutions, managing projects, and supervising employees.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, document workflows, and interpret business processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Knowledge of business process reengineering, critical thinking, and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations relevant to the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five years of relevant experience with PeopleSoft or application development.
