About the Role

The Director of Content at Seed is a leadership role within a microbiome science company focused on pioneering innovations in probiotics and living medicines to impact human and planetary health. The role involves overseeing content strategy, storytelling, and community engagement across multiple channels to educate and build passionate communities around microbiome science and health. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Seed's Content discipline to publish standard-setting content to increase awareness, reach, engagement, retention, and new member adoption.
  • Conceptualize, develop, and ensure progress against the annual Content Roadmap for the company, determining strategic objectives, initiatives, and projects for the Content team.
  • Oversee editorial content strategy, including development, execution, and evolution of key concepts and storylines across all editorial channels (social, email, web, etc.).
  • Define and lead content's role across the entire Seed brand ecosystem — Social, Web, LCM, Internal, Paid, Earned, Member Communications.
  • Partner deeply with Copy, Design, PMM, Science, and Integrated Marketing to tell a cohesive Seed story across all touchpoints and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Creative, Growth, Product, Legal, Executive, SciComms, Partnerships, etc.) to ensure the community voice is heard and the audience feels recognized and included.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to respond to cultural opportunities through authentic brand voice.
  • Infuse the Seed brand tone and voice throughout content platforms for consumers, practitioners, and partners.
  • Innovate in content formats and approaches, integrating emerging trends and technologies, including AI.
  • Hands-on writing, proofreading, and editing to generate deliverables like white papers, web content, email copy, long-form content, etc.
  • Help design experiences to onboard and retain audiences and strengthen communities.
  • Develop strategies to foster brand advocacy and leverage culturally relevant opportunities.
  • Apply audience research, data, and cultural trends to develop and iterate content approaches with new technologies and partners.
  • Report on and analyze content performance, making recommendations to improve internal processes.
  • Develop owned GTM strategy for new products in collaboration with Marketing and Creative teams.
  • Promote continuous learning, experimentation, and use of emerging trends and technologies within the content team.
  • Provide coaching, professional development, and support to team members to foster growth and performance.

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years in a direct content leadership role building and owning content strategies end to end.
  • Experience in journalism, communications, media relations, public relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in SEO strategy.
  • Experience managing and building a team of content creators.
  • Excellent relationship-building and collaboration techniques with cross-functional groups in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional creative and technical communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to build and lead a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven ability to use quantitative data to analyze content performance.
  • Thorough understanding of digital strategy, social platforms, and content creation.
  • Ability to work successfully in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong network of freelance creative talent (writers, poets, videographers, sound editors, 3D animators, etc.).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with emerging content formats and technologies, including AI.
  • Experience in developing and executing content GTM strategies for new products.
