About the Role

T-Mobile is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as the Director of Product Design, responsible for shaping the strategy, vision, and execution of T-Mobile's mobile product experiences. This role involves leading a talented team of Product Designers and Experience Strategists to define customer journeys and design principles that drive the next generation of T-Mobile's digital ecosystem. The position emphasizes innovation, usability, cross-functional collaboration, and a customer-centric approach, with a focus on building high-performing teams and delivering outstanding customer experiences. Key Responsibilities

  • In close collaboration with leaders in Product, Retail, and Marketing, define and communicate the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the evolution of T-Mobile's digital products and native applications.
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of product designers, experience designers, and strategists.
  • Establish and evolve scalable design principles, frameworks, and systems to ensure high-quality, cohesive customer experiences.
  • Champion a customer-first approach to design, leveraging research insights, usability best practices, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead the design execution for key initiatives across mobile apps and e-commerce platforms, ensuring a seamless end-to-end customer journey.
  • Define enterprise-wide design principles that align experience strategies with business objectives and product roadmaps, and communicate them effectively to influence senior leadership.
  • Measure and continuously optimize the impact of design initiatives on business and customer success metrics.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of deep experience in leading and managing all aspects of User Experience, including user research, usability methodologies, idea facilitation, iterative experimentation and design, interaction patterns, visual language, success measurement, experience strategy and architecture, content strategy, information architecture, creative direction, content authoring, front-end development, and design operations.
  • 8+ years of strong awareness of emerging UX specialties and a pragmatic approach to assembling the right mix of specialists and generalists.
  • BFA or BS in HCI, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Human-Centered Computing, or related field; MFA, MS, MBA, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience creating and revitalizing UX teams with demonstrated business return.
  • Proven ability to motivate, develop, and retain top creative talent, including technical and people leaders.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an Agile development environment, with strong knowledge of Product Discovery and familiarity with frameworks such as OKRs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at an executive level, influence enterprise-wide initiatives, and lead complex cross-functional projects with SVP+ visibility.
  • Strong cross-functional change leadership experience and ability to manage organizational and industry disruptions.
  • Advanced experience with design execution, rapid prototyping, workflow and asset management systems, experience strategy tools, content and workflow management systems (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager), collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint), and native application design paradigms.
  • Knowledge of international accessibility standards, User-Centered Design/UX Practice certification (CUA, CXA, CXPA), and Agile leadership or development certifications (SAFe, SCRUM).
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead through ambiguity, prioritize multiple projects, and influence at all levels.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, at least 18 years of age.

Nice to Have

  • MFA, MS, MBA or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Adobe ecosystem, Apple Human Interface Guidelines, Material Design libraries.
  • Experience with technical stacks relevant to native application design.
  • Certifications such as CUA, CXA, CXPA, SAFe Agilist, or SCRUM.
