The Director, Performance Marketing is accountable for maximizing company sales growth through transformative leadership and oversight of performance marketing. This leader oversees all aspects of performance marketing from vision, planning, budget management, analytics, execution and decision making across programs across Crate&Barrel and Crate&kids. The role leads a dedicated team across paid search, social, display, and paid influencer and is the primary decision maker with external agencies. This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy for growing performance marketing revenue and contribution, working in close partnership with the Ecommerce, Brand Marketing, Creative, and other cross-functional teams and Brand President.
  • Ensure cross functional alignment to paid marketing strategy for building immediate and long term vision.
  • Accountable for conceiving and executing customer-centric strategies that support key brand objectives, including: acquisition, retention, key program support (Design Services, New Movers, Registry, Trade).
  • Develop customer segmentation for targeting and strategic outreach.
  • Ensure all budgets are strategically aligned to business goals including ecom sales, traffic, and conversion goals in partnership with the ecom team.
  • Drive and communicate performance insights and optimizations.
  • Develop and maximize marketing budget in partnership with the external agency to drive business objectives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key platform and vendor partners (Google, Meta, Pinterest, TikTok, etc) and stay abreast of new ideas, tactics, and technology.
  • Partner with Analytics, Ecom, and Agency partners to develop comprehensive reporting that aligns marketing platform data with ecom performance.
  • Collaborate with Marketing/Planning/Merchandising/Ecom leadership to develop customer-centric promotional and advertising strategies that meet financial goals and support the editorial calendar.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, performance-minded team and communicate strategy cross-functionally to business partners.

  • Proven experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Media Mix Modeling, brand health tracking, lift studies, and impact measurement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing methods and a track record of testing and learning in digital space.
  • Experience managing substantial media budgets and leveraging analytics for results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or an equivalent field.
  • 10+ years of digital marketing experience in consumer-focused industries, preferably retail.
  • Demonstrated experience in stewarding media investment and managing substantial budgets.
  • Strong business management skills with accountability for measurable results and ROI.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing channels, analytics, and testing methodologies.
