About the Role

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of carrying people and payloads to various orbits. As part of a team of engineers, you will develop flight software and tools for spaceflight systems, working on vehicle avionics and ground systems to ensure the success of New Glenn's mission. The position involves requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing of critical software components, with relocation assistance available if needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop flight software and tools for spaceflight systems related to New Glenn.
  • Work on vehicle avionics and ground systems to support mission objectives.
  • Manage requirements, design, implementation, integration, and testing of software components and tools.
  • Contribute to safety-critical real-time embedded software development for spaceflight applications.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to ensure software meets mission safety and performance standards.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience writing software in C, C++, and Python.
  • 2+ years of experience in embedded software, kernel development, BSPs, or other systems software components.
  • Solid understanding of operating systems and network protocols fundamentals.

Nice to Have

  • M.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems.
  • Experience with safety-critical software development in aerospace, automotive, or other industries.
  • Experience developing software that interfaces directly with hardware components and programmable logic.
