Key Responsibilities

Manage, coach, and grow a high-performing team of 4-8 database engineers.
Own the planning, execution, and timely delivery of your team's commitments.
Partner closely with product leadership to translate product strategy and customer needs into clear, actionable engineering outcomes.
Collaborate with senior engineers to develop technical roadmaps for core areas of the database.
Collaborate across engineering and the organization to deliver on large, cross-cutting projects.
Foster a team culture of trust and inclusivity where collaboration thrives and excellence follows.
Refine the essential processes and structure needed for your team to consistently and sustainably deliver.
Partner with recruiting to hire and build a remarkable team.

Requirements

2+ years experience managing a team of distributed systems, database, or infrastructure engineers.
Experience managing and building a strong culture across a distributed team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, engaging with technical teams, product leadership, and go-to-market teams.
Substantial hands-on experience with distributed systems, databases, and data infrastructure.
Highly organized, effectively managing priorities, timelines, and resources to ensure team delivery.
Passionate about coaching and developing high-performing teams and empowering engineers.
Comfortable and effective in dynamic environments, proactively navigating evolving priorities and organizational changes.

Nice to Have

Experience working with database products and technologies.
Previous management experience in a technical environment.

Qualifications

Formal educational background or relevant work experience in distributed systems, databases, or infrastructure.

Benefits & Perks

Salary range of $195,000-225,000 plus equity.
Flexible work arrangements, including full-time in-office or hybrid (~3 days/week).
