Full-time Software Engineer - Mainframe (Multiple openings) in Irving, TX.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the full Software Development Lifecycle to design, develop, and test high-quality software applications.
• Design and develop high-quality software applications with optimal technical solutions that are cost-effective for the customer.
• Perform performance tuning of software applications by monitoring deployed code and reviewing performance in production, providing suggestions for improvements.
• Conduct unit, system, and integration testing, coordinate with testing teams and business users for User Acceptance Testing, and perform bug fixes based on testing feedback.
• Investigate issues and incidents, identify root causes, and provide appropriate solutions within the Service Level Agreement.
• Utilize tools and technologies such as COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, EASYTRIEVE, REXX, SQL, XML, Z/OS Connect API, CA7 scheduler, BMC, DFSORT, ICETOOL, IDCAMS, IDZ, MQ Series, DB2 Catalog Manager, JIRA, FILE Manager/File AID, ENDEVOR, NDM, FTP, and follow Agile and DevOps principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• At least 5 years of software and code development experience.
• 24 months of experience with designing and developing high-quality software applications with optimal technical solutions.
• 24 months of experience with performance tuning of software applications and monitoring code in production.
• 24 months of experience with unit, system, and integration testing, and coordinating User Acceptance Testing.
• 24 months of experience investigating issues, identifying root causes, and providing solutions within SLAs.
• Experience with tools and technologies including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, EASYTRIEVE, REXX, SQL, XML, Z/OS Connect API, CA7, BMC, DFSORT, ICETOOL, IDCAMS, IDZ, MQ Series, DB2 Catalog Manager, JIRA, FILE Manager/File AID, ENDEVOR, NDM, FTP, and familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience with the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and GITLAB.
• Experience working in a mainframe environment with Z/OS and related tools.
