The Ion™ endoluminal system is Intuitive's new robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, aiming to improve early lung cancer diagnosis. As an algorithms engineer on the Ion project, you will work with a small team of robotics and software experts to develop guidance software solutions, focusing on medical image analysis and computer vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Join a small team of robotics and software experts to develop guidance software solutions for the Ion system.
- Conceptualize, design, and evaluate new aspects of algorithms related to medical image analysis and/or computer vision.
- Develop new algorithms and software implementations, primarily in C++.
- Prototype and iterate on designs, develop tests, and deliver high-quality software.
- Create requirements and formal test protocols for new features.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related fields with 6+ years of related experience.
- Great communication skills.
- Exceptional programming skills; C++ knowledge preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in computer vision, medical image analysis, registration, robotics, sensor fusion, and/or machine learning.
- Ability to systematically troubleshoot and debug complex systems.
- High levels of autonomy and technical ownership.
Nice to Have
- Experience with development in Linux.
- Experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) design.
- Knowledge of libraries and tools such as OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, ITK, VTK, ROS.
- Experience with medical devices and product development in a regulated industry.
Qualifications
- Educational background in CS, EE, ME, BioE, or related fields with at least a master's degree.
