About the Role

The General Manager (GM) for the Big Sky Conference at Learfield is a senior leadership role responsible for driving financial and operational success within the conference. The GM will develop strategic business plans, manage relationships with sponsors and stakeholders, oversee sales and marketing efforts, and ensure high-quality programming and production. This position requires a strong business leader with a passion for sports and proven experience in sales, leadership, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships within the department and understand the strategic goals and objectives of the department.
  • Determine the Conference's fit within the primary business market.
  • Deliver on individual and team revenue goals through selling integrated marketing packages via traditional, digital, and non-traditional channels.
  • Develop and maintain strong, lasting relationships with current and potential corporate sponsors.
  • Develop, implement, and review strategic business plans, including sales, financial performance, and new product development.
  • Partner with the Regional Vice President to develop an annual fiscal budget for the entire property.
  • Ensure the sales team effectively leverages internal support groups such as Integrated Marketing, Research, and Digital to drive sales.
  • Supervise broadcasting talent and work closely with Learfield operations/production staff to ensure high-quality programming, production, syndication, coverage, and presentation.
  • Help recruit, manage, and train support staff, including activation staff, game day assistants, and third-party vendors.
  • Develop and model a team-based selling culture that encourages partnership and recognizes success.
  • Maintain flexible work hours including sporting and non-sporting events on weeknights or weekends.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience selling comprehensive integrated sports marketing partnerships including major media elements or other relevant B2B sales experience.
  • Ability to analyze clients' marketing needs and craft integrated marketing solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing, including social media, content marketing, banner ads, mobile, retargeting, and websites, with the ability to interpret performance analytics.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in hiring, developing, and promoting top sales talent.
  • High energy level with a strong drive for results.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to meet business objectives.
  • Effective problem-solving, communication, organizational, presentation, and listening skills.
  • Previous experience in sports and/or higher education preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university preferred.
