Job Description

About the Role

Harsco is recognized for technical leadership and worldwide experience in virtually all major aspects of railway track maintenance. We enable railroads to operate at peak efficiency over smooth, precisely aligned track that increases railway safety while reducing fuel consumption and other key operating costs. Our broad array of equipment and services support every type of railway operator, from major national and international railway systems, to short lines and high-speed urban transit networks. This Product Manager role leads one of Harsco Rail's most strategic and multi-faceted portfolios: IRIS (Intelligent Railway Infrastructure Solutions), Track Construction & Renewal, and Hyrail. The selected individual will drive P&L ownership, product strategy, and commercial growth across emerging AI/vision-based solutions (IRIS) and mature industrial equipment (Track Construction & Renewal & Hyrail). The role will blend legacy portfolio stewardship with innovation leadership as IRIS transitions from prototype to scalable platform. This position is pivotal in the company's modernization roadmap and requires an individual comfortable with cross-functional program leadership, customer engagement with Class 1s, and go-to-market strategies for both hardware and software products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle strategy and execution for three interdependent product families.
  • Define and manage strategic growth initiatives, including new product development and feature expansion.
  • Develop short- and long-term product roadmaps with aligned financial plans.
  • Guide the strategic direction and lifecycle management of the IRIS portfolio, focusing on scalable growth and long-term customer value.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer insights into feature development and product enhancements.
  • Define and drive commercialization strategies that balance hardware integration and digital solution expansion.
  • Maintain close alignment with Class 1 customers and internal engineering stakeholders to ensure successful field performance and roadmap execution.
  • Support recurring revenue models and platform standardization as IRIS matures across multiple applications and markets.
  • Maintain competitiveness and margin growth for core product lines with strong customer relationships and internal operational alignment.
  • Monitor the health of legacy platforms and identify modernization or cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure product safety, reliability, and compliance for domestic and international markets.
  • Serve as the product voice to internal stakeholders, customers, and third-party collaborators.
  • Drive commercialization plans: pricing, packaging, positioning, and channel readiness.
  • Oversee financial performance - revenue, margin, and cost targets.
  • Generate customer insights through field interaction and integrate feedback into portfolio priorities.
  • Lead sales enablement: product training, quotation guidance, and value-based selling tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business administration, engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years managing engineering-centric product lines, with strong exposure to heavy equipment, industrial automation, or AI/vision-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new products and scaling commercial solutions.
  • Experience managing both mature and emerging technology product lines.
  • Strong customer-facing experience with Class 1 railroads or similar enterprise clients.
  • Ability to manage hardware/software convergence and recurring-revenue models.
  • Familiarity with product management tools and product lifecycle management platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM, and financial modeling tools.
  • Understanding of software licensing, pricing models, and field hardware integration.
  • Ability to lead complex product initiatives from concept to commercialization.
  • Ability to interact with technical teams and executive stakeholders with confidence.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, and industry events.

Nice to Have

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or PMP certification.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in marketing, business administration, engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience in managing engineering-centric product lines, especially in heavy equipment, industrial automation, or AI solutions.
