About the Role

At E Tech Group, joining our team means joining a group of passionate and forward-thinking experts. We're one of the largest engineering and system integration firms in the United States providing value for our clients through IT automation and control solutions for more than 30 years to the Life Sciences, Mission Critical, Metals & Mining, Warehousing & Distribution, and CPG/Food & Beverage industries. Our national scale allows us to help our clients develop and implement standardized solutions at any of their facilities regardless of physical location or the local resources available at that site. We are seeking a dynamic and technically experienced Group Engineering Manager to lead our Controls & Automation engineering team with a focus on BMS, EPMS, and PLC/HMI/SCADA programming. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-performance automation solutions for data centers and other mission-critical facilities, ensuring engineering excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. You will manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team, provide strategic direction on project execution, and collaborate cross-functionally to scale automation solutions across complex projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact projects, build a top-tier engineering team, and play a crucial role in a fast-growing, high-visibility business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on the design, development, and commissioning of controls systems. Foster a culture of technical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and enforce engineering best practices, design standards, and programming methodologies across all controls projects. Ensure consistency, quality, and scalability of solutions across global project deployments.
  • Oversee the successful execution of automation projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget. Provide high-level technical input on system architectures, control strategies, and integration requirements.
  • Review and approve critical project deliverables, including sequence of operations (SOOs), control panel designs, network diagrams, and PLC/HMI/SCADA programs. Support risk mitigation through technical audits and design reviews.
  • Act as a senior technical liaison to key clients and partners. Translate client requirements into engineering strategies and ensure projects meet or exceed expectations.
  • Mentor senior engineers and team leads, supporting career development and technical growth. Implement training programs to keep the team current with evolving technologies and tools.
  • Work closely with project management, business development, procurement, and field operations teams to ensure engineering alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as an ambassador who embodies our Core Values, prioritizing the success of E Tech Group, our clients, and the professional development of our associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in controls and automation engineering, including extensive experience in BMS/EPMS design and integration.
  • PLC/HMI/SCADA programming across platforms like Rockwell, Siemens, Tridium, Ignition, or Schneider.
  • 5+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
  • Strong background in data center, mission-critical, or industrial automation projects.
  • Deep understanding of system integration, field commissioning, and controls network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, OPC, SNMP).
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional technical teams and mentoring engineers.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing or implementing design automation frameworks or reusable code libraries.
  • Familiarity with MEP and electrical one-line coordination.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity considerations in industrial control system (ICS) environments.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PE, Niagara 4, or Ignition.
  • Experience in a Design-Build or EPC project environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 50%) for team or project oversight.

Benefits & Perks

  • 401k + match + prompt enrollment. E Tech Group employees are 100% vested upon entry.
  • Prompt enrollment into Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits.
  • Generous paid time off that includes paid vacation, paid holidays, paid family leave and sick time off.
  • Training and continuing education from day one to support career advancement.
