Job Description

About the Role

The internship supports the DGACM Global Innovation and Data Analytics Service at the United Nations Headquarters, focusing on technology for intergovernmental services, data science, artificial intelligence, and conference management. Interns will assist in research, data modeling, AI projects, and database management to enhance intergovernmental procedures and documentation services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the DGACM Global Innovation and Data Analytics Service in its work related to intergovernmental services and data analytics.
  • Conduct research on intergovernmental procedures and practices of the United Nations main organs and their subsidiary bodies.
  • Support the development of data models and assist with the integration of reporting tools and technologies.
  • Support the tracking of current intergovernmental activity, provide analysis, and maintain related data sets.
  • Assist with DGACM/GIDAS innovation projects and UN 2.0 activities focusing on data-driven improvements and AI implementations.
  • Assist in preparing innovation-based meetings, including summarizing discussions and preparing briefing materials.
  • Support AI-driven translation, summarization, speech-to-text, and other relevant technologies for conference and documentation services.
  • Contribute proposals and support for GIDAS Innovation initiatives.
  • Support the management of internal databases, including user acceptance, quality assurance, and change management processes.
  • Assist in issue management processes and prepare related correspondence.
  • Develop data analysis models supporting conference management and documentation services.
  • Support project management activities for the DGACM GIDAS Office, including strategy, data, and policy support.
  • Prepare for meetings with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme, in the final year of a first university degree, or recently graduated with a university degree.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a basic understanding of computer programming, database management, and familiarity with data visualization tools.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its ideals.
  • Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical, data, innovation, creative, and project management skills.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written).

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of another UN official language.
  • Interest in data analysis, artificial intelligence, GEN AI, application development, data modeling, data mining, or statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with intergovernmental procedures and UN organs.

Qualifications

  • Official proof of enrollment or recent graduation from a university program.
