About the Role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The team focuses on attention management in chat, helping users minimize distractions, discover and prioritize conversations, and maintain focus within a potentially overwhelming communication environment. The role involves working on user-facing experiences tied to attention management in Google Chat, with opportunities to impact billions of users worldwide and contribute to AI-driven productivity tools that will shape the future of work.

Key Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Push the entire chat iOS app architecture forward as a key iOS team lead on the Chat team.
Mentor and guide more junior iOS team members, reviewing code and designs, providing tech talks, and authoring technical roadmaps as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
1 year of experience with large-scale application design and architecture.
3 years of experience with iOS application development.
3 years of development experience coding in Objective-C or Swift.

Nice to Have

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
5 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
1 year of programming experience in Java.

Qualifications

Doctoral or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
