IT - Java Software Developer - Intermediate

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Modify existing application code or interfaces or build new application components from detailed requirements.
• Analyze requirements, support the design, develop the code, test, debug, deploy, and maintain those programs and interfaces.
• Document the work as part of the development process.
• Participate in all aspects of programming and application development, including file design, updates, storage, and retrieval.
• Maintain the developed solution on an ongoing basis.
• Formulate concepts, define system scope and technical objectives based on user needs, demonstrating good written and verbal communication skills.
• Enhance processes to resolve operational problems and add new functions considering schedule, resource constraints, process complexity, dependencies, and application structure.
• Follow existing development methodology and coding standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• May guide various groups on application systems activities.
• Work under general directions, typically reporting to a team lead or supervisor/manager.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant roles.
• Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or information system management.
• Experience in application development in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for integration with large teams.
• Problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
• Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously when necessary.
• Intermediate to expert knowledge in system development lifecycle, processes, and methods.
• Experience with testing methods including unit and integration testing (JUnit, JMock).
• Utilization of software configuration management tools.
• Experience with code deployment and versioning tools.
• Experience with UNIX (AIX), UNIX scripting, Java, J2EE, JavaBeans, JavaScript, servlets, JDBC, Struts, Spring, Angular, Hibernate.
• Experience with WebSphere, DB2, PostgreSQL, SQL, FTP/SFTP.

Nice to Have

• Experience in financial services or captive auto finance companies.
