About the Role

The IT Program Manager Sr is responsible for running and managing multiple complex projects within a defined program, ensuring their successful delivery through formal program management techniques. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders, establishing governance, managing dependencies, and driving project outcomes to meet organizational goals, particularly within a global finance or insurance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and manage multiple complex projects under the umbrella of a defined program and take responsibility for their delivery using formal program management techniques as appropriate
  • Ensure that program executive sponsorship, governance, organizational structure, scope, objectives and success criteria are established
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders (Business/Product Owners, IT) to outline the program approach, sequencing of work and resourcing necessary to execute effectively
  • Facilitate the business and product owner decisioning process, as necessary
  • Establish and facilitate Program Steering Committee and Program Governance meetings as appropriate
  • Manage project dependencies across and related to the program ensuring delivery alignment
  • Drive delivery of projects within the program with predictable consistency and efficiency with focus on achieving expected results
  • Manage program scope and ensure proper change governance is implemented
  • Identify and manage program level issues/risks and create actionable mitigation strategies
  • Actively manage program communications and relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including Executive Management
  • Ensure proper governance to deliver projects on time, meet business & technical requirements, and stay within budget
  • Manage, monitor and report progress against milestones and budgets, providing transparent communication to Management and Executive Leadership
  • Manage program change management and training efforts to minimize operational impacts
  • Assist with vendor relationship management (Systems Integrator, Software, others)
  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to project managers, resource managers and product owners, building and motivating the team
  • Create and manage a culture of transparency and accountability within the program
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders and act as the key point of contact for the project
  • Perform any additional duties and responsibilities as expected in the role

Requirements

  • Educated to bachelor's degree level, preferably in IT or a similar field
  • 10+ years of experience managing the delivery of IT Solutions in Applications delivery and Transformation projects within a complex and dynamic environment
  • Experience in a global Finance/Insurance or regulated industry is preferred
  • Strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation
  • Ability to lead and direct projects without compromising business outcomes and priorities
  • Experience working in complex organizational structures and forging delivery paths
  • Excellent communication skills and experience managing diverging stakeholder interests
  • Proven ability to create reports and summarize project health status for stakeholders
  • Ability to manage and track project costs and budgets to agreed baselines
  • Experience driving functional and geographic workstreams and coordinating step change delivery
  • Collaborative working style fostering accountability and sharing
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working across organizational and geographic styles
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Willingness to travel internationally
