About the Role

We're looking for a Junior Data Analyst or Data Scientist to join our growing Data team at Electronic Merchant Systems (EMS), a financial technology company that provides payment processing solutions for retail and eCommerce merchants. The role will primarily focus on risk-related projects and analytics, with opportunities to contribute to a broad range of data initiatives across the business. The position offers exposure to senior stakeholders and the chance to turn data insights into tangible business impact, supporting decision-making and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards to support business visibility and decision-making, with an initial focus on risk
Build scalable code by integrating multiple data sources to support reporting and analysis
Analyze data to identify trends, success indicators, and performance insights that inform key business decisions
Support the automation and streamlining of manual risk reporting processes to improve efficiency
Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data quality and accuracy
Contribute to data governance and data management practices to maintain high standards of data integrity across teams

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a STEM related discipline
Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming large and varied datasets
Experience in at least one programming language (Python or R)
Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
Demonstrated advanced analytical skills, including interpreting complex data, identifying key trends, and generating actionable insights in PowerPoint
Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation
Excellent communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality
A proactive and curious mindset, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Prior payments/risk experience preferred
