Job Description

About the Role

The Key Account Manager reports to the Manager of Key Account Management and is responsible for managing a portfolio of the company's largest and/or most politically sensitive commercial, industrial, and municipal customers. The role involves influencing and advising key customers on natural gas and electrical issues, promoting sales and company programs, providing technical support, leading negotiations, and supporting emergency restoration efforts. The position is based in East Hartford CT and offers a salary range depending on experience, from $114,000 to $142,000.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead company specific programs to improve assigned customer relationships and manage regular communications and issue resolution, including executive-to-executive programs and pricing updates for large customers.
  • Facilitate large customer projects, ensuring clear communication of complex subjects, identifying and resolving issues, and managing customer expectations from project ownership to completion.
  • Support the implementation of company programs and projects, including securing and delivering economic development grants, energy efficiency leads, and promoting natural gas and electric growth programs.
  • Manage and resolve credit, collections, and revenue issues for assigned key account customers.
  • Lead negotiations with customers on tariff, rate, and service issues, and manage contracts from initial to executed state.
  • Support company emergency restoration efforts in lead roles.
  • Insure company and customer compliance with policies, safety, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of directly related technical utility experience requiring business customer interaction or a Master's in Business Administration (preferred).
  • Skilled communicator with effective influencing skills and strong customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing challenging customer situations and solving complex problems.
  • Working knowledge of company tariffs, contract negotiation skills, and experience managing projects.
  • Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, and technical aptitude.
  • Confident decision-maker with the ability to lead and guide complex projects.

Nice to Have

  • Preferred B.S. degree in Engineering, Marketing, Math, or equivalent.
  • Advanced skills in global business view, continuous improvement, innovation, and customer focus.
  • Experience in project management and leading teams.

Qualifications

  • Masters in Business Administration is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant utility experience.
