The Lead Analyst - Business Intelligence role at J. Crew Group, LLC, is based in New York, NY, with potential for telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements, and involves leading a team of analysts to support business intelligence initiatives within a retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of analysts and take ownership of reporting requirements from the MP&A (Merchant, Planning & Allocation) Team.
  • Manage relationships with business partners through effective communication, prioritization, and negotiation.
  • Translate product roadmaps into clear and detailed requirements, including features, user stories, backlogs, and acceptance test criteria in Jira.
  • Collaborate closely with diverse business stakeholders, acting as a bridge between technical teams and business users to ensure alignment and understanding of BI initiatives.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of data standardization, requirement gathering, data modeling, and dashboard creation in an Agile environment using tools like Excel, Smartsheet, and Jira.
  • Perform quality assurance using various SQL statements in Snowflake for newly released data, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • Design interactive Power BI dashboards to display key KPIs as per business needs and work with technical and business partners to roll them out to all users.
  • Build reports for data analysis in MS Excel using Power BI's 'Analyze in Excel' functionality.
  • Manage version control of Power BI reports and dashboards by performing repository maintenance and tracking changes using GitHub.
  • Validate metadata of measures and dimensions of the data model utilizing Tabular Editor for Power BI to ensure accurate Data Dictionary management.
  • Write and execute data tests to identify bugs and resolve issues using the DBT tool.
  • Oversee the work of BI Developer consultants.

Requirements

  • Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Analytics, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Must have three (3) years of experience in the retail industry in roles such as Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or related positions.
  • Experience creating automated reporting solutions using Power BI, SAP BW HANA, and SAP Business Objects.
  • Proficiency in conducting data analysis using SQL in Snowflake.
  • Experience overseeing projects that incorporate retail digital solutions into data infrastructure.
  • Ability to translate product roadmaps into actionable requirements for Data Engineering and BI teams.
  • Experience managing activities of citizen BI developers in retail business units to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Proficiency in creating executive and enterprise-level reports for diverse senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing complex datasets from various sources and translating requirements into solutions.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and active engagement with users.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Jira, Smartsheet, GitHub, Tabular Editor, and DBT tools.
  • Strong conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in retail digital solutions and data infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in relevant field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in retail industry roles related to data and business intelligence.
