Lead Building Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain critical systems in data center facilities.
• Coordinate and oversee work in a ~70MW building or buildings.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the data center's operational status.
• Ensure the proper functioning of electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, and fire protection systems.
• Regularly walk job site areas, including terrain that may be flat or uneven.
• Work at varying heights and from ladders as needed.
• Use hands and fingers dexterously and perform physical tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, and moving heavy objects.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or other technical maintenance fields.
• Associate's degree in engineering plus 5+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with maintenance management programs.
• Proficiency with computer systems including documents, spreadsheets, and email.
• Demonstrated ability to work on job sites with varied terrain and heights.
• Experience working in data center or other critical environments such as pharma, clean rooms, medical, or power production for 5+ years.
• Trade certification or state licensure in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC).
• Professional affiliations (e.g., 7x24 exchange, IFMA, Data Center Pulse).
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems used in critical environments.
• Experience interpreting blueprints or CAD drawings.

Nice to Have

• Experience with interpreting blueprints/Computer-Aided Design drawings.
