About the Role

The Manager of Payment Analytics & Reporting is responsible for leading and developing a team of payment and reporting analysts to support Nordstrom's credit portfolio and payments business. This role involves overseeing payments analytics, driving and helping to prioritize data needs, and supporting credit and payments reporting to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks. The Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to make recommendations that enhance customer experience and drive profitable growth. By leveraging data-driven insights, the Manager will inform business cases and strategic decisions, ensuring the company meets its objectives while effectively managing expenses and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of payment and reporting analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide guidance and support to analysts in conducting data analysis and reporting.
  • Set team goals aligned with organizational objectives and monitor performance.
  • Oversee analytics related to effectiveness and profitability of payments initiatives.
  • Support reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the credit portfolio and payments business.
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Ensure the team utilizes advanced analytical techniques to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Credit, Finance, Marketing, Payments) to align analytics initiatives with business strategies.
  • Work closely with external partners, such as TD Bank, to influence strategies that drive profitable growth and manage risk.
  • Support decisions on payment initiatives to enhance acceptance rates, reduce tender fees, and mitigate fraud.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of comprehensive reporting tools and dashboards to provide insights into the credit and payments business.
  • Ensure analysts produce accurate and timely reports that inform senior management and support strategic decision-making.
  • Evaluate and monitor partner performance reports, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in payment analytics and reporting, or related fields within the financial services or retail industry.
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams of data analysts.
  • Strong understanding of the consumer credit card industry.
  • Knowledge of the payments industry, including payment processing, acceptance strategies, fraud prevention, and fee management.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, BigQuery, SAS, Python, R) and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into actionable business strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a strategic and innovative mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Ability to influence and persuade stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team towards achieving collective goals.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring team members to meet their career objectives and enhance their skills.
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions that align with organizational objectives and values.
  • Exhibits courage in addressing challenges and driving necessary changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in payment analytics and reporting.
