Manager, Data Engineering

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop large scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data to generate insights and address reporting needs.
• Coordinate data engineering activities and strategy across engineering, product and platform experience teams and stakeholders.
• Write ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing.
• Collaborate with Data Science team to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes.
• Test and maintain systems and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Leverage knowledge of Hadoop architecture, HDFS commands, and designing and optimizing queries to build data pipelines.
• Utilize programming skills in Python, Java, or similar languages to build robust data pipelines and dynamic systems.
• Build data marts and data models to support Data Science and other internal customers.
• Integrate data from various sources and ensure adherence to data quality and accessibility standards.
• Analyze current IT environments to identify critical capabilities and recommend solutions to complex business problems.
• Experiment with available tools and advise on new tools to provide optimal solutions.
• Supervise junior Data Engineers.

Requirements

• Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
• Two (2) years of experience in software development for enterprise or web applications.
• Two (2) years of experience in data analysis for healthcare industry, products, or systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, GIT, or DevOps.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or R.
• Experience with Agile methodologies or SAFe Software Development Principles.
• Knowledge of Oracle, Teradata, or DB2.
• Experience with JIRA, Rally, or Confluence.
• Familiarity with Cloud technologies: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with Hadoop and Hive.
• Proficiency in SAS or SQL programming languages.
• Experience with Spark, PySpark, or Scala.
• Designing data models and solutions for analytical and reporting use cases.
• Providing domain support for healthcare or retail pharmacy organizations.

Nice to Have

• Experience with large-scale data infrastructure and cloud-based data solutions.
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality standards.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior data engineers.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or foreign equivalent in relevant field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
