About the Role

The Manager Data Engineering at Sapient Corporation is responsible for leading and overseeing data engineering activities, including designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines and cloud infrastructure. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring data security and integrity, and providing technical leadership and mentorship to the data engineering team. The position supports digital transformation initiatives and requires working from the Atlanta office and various client sites, with a hybrid telecommuting option.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming.
Oversee a team of data engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure data integrity, security, and availability.
Lead the development and implementation of data engineering best practices, standards, and processes.
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members and help solve complex data engineering challenges.
Stay up to date on emerging technologies and trends in data engineering to drive innovation and continuous development.
Hire, train, and manage performance of the data engineering team.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to understand data needs and priorities.
Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in any occupation where the required experience was gained.
Five years of experience in managing projects, supporting architects in drafting requirement specifications, functional design, and technical design documents.
Experience developing ETL data pipelines for extracting data from sources like SFTP servers, databases, and AWS S3 using Python scripts.
Experience designing database schemas and writing queries and functions for data extraction.
Experience developing and maintaining high-quality ETL data pipelines aligned with system requirements and business needs.
Experience collaborating directly with clients to understand business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
Experience providing guidance in building frameworks, strategizing development, and streamlining testing activities.
Experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation, including solution designs, codebase details, and user manuals.
