About the Role

The Manager, Director Development - West Region is a key member of the Director Development Team at the Western Golf Association/Evans Scholars Foundation. This role involves supporting and liaising with WGA Directors in the West to advance organizational goals, deepen relationships, and support fundraising efforts. The position requires coordinating strategies to engage volunteer leaders, cultivate donors, and promote youth caddie opportunities, with a focus on the West region, including Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and California. The role can be based in Chicago or Denver, with travel to the other city and the West region as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with approximately 200 WGA Directors and donors through thoughtful stewardship and relationship development.
  • Serve as the point person and expert on the WGA Director role for west region WGA Directors.
  • Develop strategies to identify and facilitate micro-fundraising campaigns in collaboration with ESF's volunteer leadership and WGA Directors.
  • Provide support to WGA Directors through creation of curated marketing campaigns and other awareness activities.
  • Leverage relationships with WGA Directors to recruit new volunteer leaders and identify prospects for fundraising and support of the ESF.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to support and advise on portfolio activities, including developing and executing cultivation and solicitation strategies, securing materials for donor engagement, and preparing for donor meetings.
  • Leverage departmental resources, including Donor Communications and Development Operations teams, to request and refine meeting materials, correspondence, donor proposals, and prospect research.
  • Support the Caddie Development team in recruiting individuals who can impact the Evans Scholars program as future WGA Directors and grow caddie programs at clubs in the east.
  • Lead various annual administrative processes for the Director Development team.
  • Attend events throughout the year as the ESF representative.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of experience as a fundraiser or in sales and business development, ideally in a complex and dynamic environment such as a non-profit, higher education, or large federated organization.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated success as a fundraiser and familiarity with working with volunteer Boards.
  • Ability to work cross-departmentally and achieve results both individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to help determine the fundraising priorities of the Evans Scholars Foundation.
  • Leadership presence effective with volunteer leaders and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Authentic appreciation for the Evans Scholars Foundation's role in youth caddying.
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge.
  • Ability to travel 50%, independently and with team members, and work some nights and weekends as required.
  • Familiarity with golf, golf clubs, and/or golf caddie programs is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, or related discipline.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in fundraising or sales/business development.
