The role of Managing Director, Product AI, involves leading the integration of AI technologies across our network to redefine marketing possibilities, leveraging AI to solve real-world business challenges, and driving transformative growth through strategic AI initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement AI strategy: Define a comprehensive AI vision and roadmap for the holding company, outlining clear objectives, strategic priorities, and KPIs. Ensure alignment with overall business goals and tailor strategies to individual agencies. Include product lead responsibilities for WPP Open, WPP's AI-powered integrated marketing operating system.
  • Oversee AI initiatives: Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of AI solutions across marketing disciplines such as creative workflows, content automation, design optimization, audience targeting, campaign performance, and data analytics.
  • Build and manage AI Center of Excellence: Establish a centralized hub for AI expertise, providing guidance on best practices, tools, technologies, and ethical considerations to agencies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation: Champion AI adoption and experimentation, encouraging agencies to explore new use cases, pilot solutions, and push AI boundaries in marketing.
  • Talent development: Identify, recruit, and develop top AI talent, implementing training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance skills across the organization.
  • Partnerships and collaborations: Cultivate strategic relationships with AI technology providers, research institutions, and industry thought leaders to access cutting-edge solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends: Keep abreast of emerging AI trends, advancements, and best practices, adapting strategies to capitalize on new opportunities and address challenges.
  • Ethics and responsibility: Ensure ethical AI use, establishing guidelines for data privacy, fairness, and transparency, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role within the AI/ML field, with a proven track record of applying AI to solve complex business problems, preferably in marketing or advertising.
  • Deep understanding of AI technologies and their applications in marketing, including machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, deep learning, and generative AI.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement AI strategies that drive measurable business results such as increased efficiency, revenue growth, and competitive advantage.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align AI initiatives with overall business objectives and identify new value creation opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience building, managing, and mentoring high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field is preferred.
