About the Role

The Marketing Automation and Analytics Strategist at Stanford University, within the Graduate School of Business, is responsible for leading the management and strategic development of the university's next-generation marketing automation platform. The role involves serving as a subject matter expert in marketing automation and analytics, collaborating across departments, and driving initiatives to optimize marketing performance and demand generation efforts. The position supports Stanford's mission to provide transformative leadership experiences and global impact through innovative marketing strategies and data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the marketing automation platform from a strategic, marketing, and best practices perspective.
  • Develop an email automation strategy and roadmap for nurture, journey, and drip campaigns to engage prospects and drive enrollments.
  • Own the marketing aspects of key CRM and marketing systems such as Salesforce and Marketing Cloud.
  • Manage and evolve the marketing technology stack by evaluating new technologies and applications to improve performance.
  • Own full funnel metrics and best practices to guide demand generation marketing campaigns.
  • Analyze and report full marketing funnel customer data using tools like Google Analytics and CRM systems.
  • Tell data stories, identify opportunities, and solve business problems with data insights.
  • Recommend and execute marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Manage marketing plans and programs, collaborating with internal stakeholders and vendors.
  • Conduct market research, including competitive benchmarking, and analyze campaign effectiveness to inform strategic decisions.
  • Assess market opportunities, track trends, and recommend marketing improvements.
  • Partner with Demand Generation Marketing Managers, Operations, and agencies.
  • Manage project budgets, coordinate invoice processing, and oversee staff or interns as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in product, program, or services marketing.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional groups toward a common goal.
  • Experience with project management and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of integrated marketing across digital and print channels.
  • Experience with market research and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • 5+ years of business analytics, marketing analytics, preferably in digital performance marketing organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of customer journeys, channel marketing, and how they enhance customer relations.
  • Knowledge of web analytics, social analytics, Tag Management tools such as Google Analytics, and Salesforce data.
  • Advanced knowledge of KPI measurement, testing, and optimization methodologies.
  • Understanding of Customer Data Platforms and visualization tools for blending data sources.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce and Marketing Cloud Marketing Automation systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with web analytics, social analytics, and Tag Management tools.
  • Knowledge of Customer Data Platforms and data visualization platforms.
  • Experience working with marketing automation systems like Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
