About the Role

The Marketing Director oversees and supports strategic decisions at the National, Regional, and local levels, manages operational aspects of merchandise execution, develops marketing plans to expand brand presence, analyzes financial results, and ensures the implementation of marketing and merchandising initiatives. The role involves leading a team, managing budgets, and collaborating with various departments to meet company goals within Circle K in Tempe, AZ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees and supports strategic decisions from the National, Regional, and local levels.
  • Manages operational aspects of merchandise execution.
  • Develops an annual marketing plan to expand brand presence in each market, utilizing local opportunities such as billboards, radio, and other media.
  • Improves results of under-performing assets by developing innovative methods, procedures, products, systems, and programs.
  • Analyzes financial results and recommends promotions and category changes to meet or exceed goals, aligning with the National and Regional Merchandising functions.
  • Anticipates and reacts to competitive activity within each market by reviewing, analyzing, and providing recommendations.
  • Ensures implementation of marketing and merchandising plans by communicating with Retail Operations Directors and Market District Managers.
  • Maximizes marketing, merchandising, and profit opportunities by visiting local markets to identify and share best practices company-wide.
  • Prepares an annual budget, schedules expenditures, analyzes variances, and initiates corrective actions to achieve financial objectives.
  • Allocates program costs through operational and risk reports.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and appraising employees.
  • Contributes to team efforts by achieving financial and key result area targets according to company guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field preferred; other combinations of experience and education may be substituted.
  • Ten years of experience or more, including a minimum of seven years in management responsibility.
  • Experience with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • May require up to 50% travel.
  • Physical ability to sit for long periods, operate a computer, view monitors, hear and speak via telephone, reach, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MS Word.
  • Experience with management responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of ten years of experience, including management experience.
