About the Role

As part of the Americas Commercial Marketing team, the Director, Market Development - Pharmaceuticals will be responsible and accountable for leading a small team on the development and execution of a marketing plan that helps achieve the business objectives of our instrumentation, software, consumables, and services business within the Americas across both Small Molecule and Large Molecule/Biotech markets. Through a good understanding of customer requirements, market dynamics, regulatory influences, the individual will collaboratively develop and execute marketing and sales strategies aimed at generating pipeline revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and successful implementation of a marketing business plan aligned with the corporate strategy to help deliver the Pharmaceutical revenue goal within the Americas.
  • Lead the local team in the development and execution of an integrated marketing plan that promotes awareness of Waters solutions through marketing communications, digital campaigns, seminars, user meetings, customer visits, scientific meetings, and tradeshows to both new-to-Waters and recurring customers.
  • Responsible for the strategy and execution of marketing activities to generate and nurture leads across multiple market segments via events, digital marketing, targeted social media advertising, and cooperative marketing with partners to optimize pipeline fill and acceleration.
  • Oversee marketing performance and impact to the business via tracking relevant KPIs, including marketing qualified leads (MQLs), conversion rate, funnel creation, campaign/tactic success measures, and orders/sales.
  • Advocate for internal and external customer needs by working across multiple product, service, vertical market, and geographic organizations to build consensus, influence change, and ensure needs are understood and met.
  • Train, develop, and nurture the local Pharmaceutical Marketing team to help them achieve their objectives as part of the larger Americas team.
  • Become an established subject matter expert regarding the Pharmaceutical industry within the Americas, working with teams across Sales, Product, Service, and Global to influence and support efforts impacting Pharmaceutical customers and educate them about our solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in scientific, engineering, or marketing discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing and business development, preferably with Waters or similar instrumentation/software/services supporting the Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute business plans and lead from the front with little support.
  • People/Team Leader experience with the ability to develop talent and create future leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including effective communication, driving execution, fostering innovation, customer focus, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to proactively establish and maintain effective working relationships with all corporate departments both local and global.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to respond flexibly to changing demands.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting the Pharmaceutical industry with instrumentation, software, or services.
  • Experience in demand generation, field marketing, or business development within life sciences or related fields.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in scientific, engineering, or marketing discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant marketing and business development experience.

Benefits & Perks

  • Base pay ranges from $173,500/year to $231,500/year, based on market location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
