Job Description

About the Role

The MDM Data Analyst at Tampa Electric Company is responsible for the daily monitoring, management, and analysis of Meter Data Management (MDM) system data to ensure optimal network health, prompt resolution of exceptions, and accurate synchronization of data across the MDM, CRM, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) head-end. The role involves analysis, troubleshooting, and exception handling for the end-to-end meter to cash process, supporting various departments and ensuring data integrity and system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors daily synchronization between CRM, AMI head-end, and MDM, ensuring accurate synchronization of data across all systems.
  • Troubleshoots data anomalies, identifies and tracks trends to uncover potential data issues, and logs defects.
  • Analyzes data imported into the MDM from other business units, such as Smart Street Lights.
  • Addresses exceptions related to validation and estimation within the network by interpreting reports and resolving errors.
  • Coordinates with internal departments and third-party vendors to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve exceptions, proactively resolving billing exceptions when possible.
  • Acts as the point of escalation to support other business units, such as troubleshooting high bill complaints.
  • Reviews key network performance metrics daily, identifies trends, and addresses issues to ensure optimal network health.
  • Provides status reports on network performance, data collection issues, synchronization, and exception handling.
  • Monitors and investigates data collection issues, such as stale meters, and conducts root cause analysis.
  • Generates service orders for work supporting customer billing, including re-reads, reading corrections, and field investigations.
  • Supports implementation and testing of CRM software/process changes impacting the MDM system, developing test cases and scripts.
  • Develops and maintains processes and procedure documentation, and recommends strategies to eliminate avoidable problems.
  • Coordinates processes like meter changes and new services to ensure proper meter data management and minimize billing impacts.
  • Develops requirements for, configures, and tests MDM reports, and supports custom report development for other business units.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience with metering and billing functions and a strong understanding of utility billing practices.
  • Ability to interpret data and analyze results.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to uncover and synthesize connections.
  • Inquisitive and persistent in resolving problems, including following data flows through integrations.
  • Ability to take initiative to create new methods and solutions to achieve end results.
  • Excellent interpersonal, administrative, organizational, communication, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of customer service and billing functions acquired through utility billing and customer service experience.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) and Meter Data Management (MDM) System.
  • Experience with Customer Information System.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in business or other relevant field from an accredited institution.
