About the Role
The Media Coordinator position at the South Dakota State Government's Governor's Office of Economic Development involves creating and managing digital content, developing compelling messaging for economic development initiatives, and supporting community engagement efforts across South Dakota. The role is integral to promoting economic growth, attracting investment, and supporting workforce development, with a focus on high-quality photo and video production, social media management, and public relations activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage content for GOED's social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Capture and edit photos and videos to highlight business success stories, workforce initiatives, and community development projects
- Write press releases, blog posts, and marketing copy to support GOED campaigns
- Travel to events, business visits, and community engagements across South Dakota
- Support the planning and execution of media campaigns and public relations efforts
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and branding
Requirements
- Photography and videography experience
- Strong writing experience with a keen eye for detail and storytelling
- Experience in managing multiple social media platforms
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, etc.)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Willingness to travel extensively (at least 50% of the time)

Qualifications
- Experience in photography and videography
