Job Description

About the Role

As a member of the Utah Office of Energy Development (OED) communications team, you'll use your media talents to showcase Utah's evolving energy landscape. Through video, social media and graphic design, you'll help tell compelling stories and keep the OED website—our primary hub for information and engagement—fresh and dynamic. Join our dynamic, supportive and highly engaged team and be ready to learn and grow along the way. Energy is the foundation of modern society. It enables our way of life and unleashes our potential. As energy needs grow and new technologies emerge, OED is helping shape the energy future of tomorrow through evidence based policy, education, workforce development and research. As a critical member of the OED comms team, you will help engage the public and tell the energy story of Utah, where we've been, where we are and where we're headed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and post engaging content across OED's social media platforms.
  • Lead the production of videos for both internal and public audiences.
  • Manage and update the OED website, including creating new pages and refreshing existing ones.

  • Collect, track, and analyze engagement data to inform content strategy.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all digital media products.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities on OED's social media accounts.
  • Produce high-quality video content, from concept to final edit.
  • Monitor website and social media analytics; recommend improvements to boost reach and engagement.
  • Capture photos and video content, including aerial footage.
  • Conduct on-camera and off-camera interviews for videos, social posts and podcasts.

Requirements

  • Strong video production skills.
  • Experience using social media platforms.
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills.
  • Good judgment in identifying and crafting public interest stories.
  • Some familiarity with web content management and editing is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Preference may be given to those with professional or academic experience in social media.
