About the Role

As a Media Specialist I, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Public Engagement team by creating high-quality media products, with a strong emphasis on video production. Your work will help enhance community outreach, increase public awareness of city initiatives, and ensure consistent messaging across digital and traditional platforms. You will be responsible for capturing, editing, and distributing multimedia content that effectively communicates the City's message and engages the public.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, film, and edit high-quality video content for public engagement, promotional materials, and city events.
Assist in the production of digital and print media, including graphics, photography, and other creative assets.
Operate and maintain video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio recording devices.
Collaborate with the Public Engagement team to develop compelling storytelling strategies for various platforms, including social media, the city website, and broadcast media.
Manage and organize digital media assets for accessibility and reuse.
Ensure all content aligns with the City's branding, messaging, and public information standards.
Assist in live-streaming and broadcasting public meetings, press conferences, and community events.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging media technologies to improve content creation and engagement.
Support crisis communication efforts by quickly producing timely and accurate media content as needed.
Perform other media-related duties as assigned to support public engagement efforts.

Requirements

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in video production, media creation, or a related field.
Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar) and graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator).
Associate's degree in Media Production, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Basic understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms, and media production best practices.

Nice to Have

Experience creating multimedia content for public or community outreach.
Knowledge of emerging media technologies and storytelling techniques.
Ability to produce inclusive and accessible content.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Media Production, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in video production or media creation.

Competitive salary range: $41,724.80 - $48,401.60 annually.
