About the Role

The Multimedia Content Producer will serve as a content production professional within Gopher Digital Productions (GDP), the internal content production department for University of Minnesota Athletics. The position involves creating video and motion graphics content primarily for Women’s Basketball and Volleyball, supporting other programs as needed, and contributing to the department’s mission, vision, and strategic plan with a focus on equity and diversity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute as an individual creative by collecting video and audio footage using cinema and DSLR video cameras at Minnesota Athletics events, practices, or staged shoots such as interviews.
  • Produce creative multimedia content for social media, in-venue, broadcast, and other digital platforms using non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Create motion graphics content from conception through completion using Adobe After Effects or similar software.
  • Develop video storytelling and craft compelling narratives through multimedia.
  • Work as a member of the GDP team by collaborating with colleagues and athletic teams on idea generation, research, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in oversight, supervision, and training of student production employees and post-graduate interns.
  • Support departmental efforts to maintain physical and digital assets.
  • Support future planning and contribute to departmental strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to advance the department’s goals.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a relevant field or a combination of related education and work experience totaling at least four years.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Adobe Premiere Pro or similar non-linear editing software.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with video codecs, file formats, color spaces, and common video exporting/transcoding methods.
  • Cinematography experience, including basic knowledge of DSLR cameras and lenses.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on event schedule.
  • Ability to travel to road events, notably Gopher Women’s Basketball and Volleyball games.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a collegiate or professional sports environment in a similar capacity.
  • Experience traveling with a sports team or program to capture content.
  • Experience in a leadership role with student workers.
  • Experience with Sony camera bodies and lenses.
  • Working knowledge of post-production sound design and editing practices.
