About the Role

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Principal Specialist) to join their team supporting U.S. government operations at Buckley AFB in Aurora, CO. The role involves evaluating operational software problems, providing solutions to restore service, and integrating and verifying new software baselines. The position requires active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance and is onsite in Colorado, focusing on aerospace and defense challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform as technical subject matter expert for software products and interface with Prime customer on daily basis on mission execution
  • Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation of software applications
  • Troubleshoot and isolate sources of system errors or unexpected performance
  • Determine the operational feasibility of software modifications
  • Work autonomously or lead teams to develop software tools to support maintenance activities
  • Perform testing, integration, and delivery of new software baselines
  • Support some team leadership duties
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and assessment of complex systems in operations
  • Support tasks independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
  • Experience with coding in Java, C++, or Python
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PERL, GIT, Java Script, TCL/TK, Bash
  • Experience in software development and/or software integration
  • Experience leading software projects
  • Experience supporting software installs and system upgrades, including roles like integration, technical working groups, factory checkouts, system tests, installation planning, and rehearsals
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in an O&M environment
  • Experience with database management and utilization
  • Ability to work in a structured configuration-controlled environment focused on real-time software applications
  • Experience working on enterprise programs with geographically dispersed team members
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to recommend and implement solutions
  • Linux/Unix, GIT, and SQL experience
  • Experience with JIRA, BitBucket, and Confluence
  • Security+ certification
  • Familiarity with current IC or DoD operational environments and policies
  • Knowledge of the request for change (RFC) process

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM fields
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance
