The Patient Accounts Specialist (PAS) works under the immediate supervision of supervisors and managers in Patient Financial Services (PFS). The role involves performing complex tasks requiring critical thinking skills and experience-based knowledge in patient financial services. The specialist reviews difficult work queues, large dollar accounts, aged accounts, and special projects, creating reports and spreadsheets to identify problem areas and determine appropriate actions to resolve issues. The position requires thorough knowledge of patient billing, billing transmission, government regulatory and compliance requirements, and electronic billing systems.
