Key Responsibilities

Provide analytical support for the wholesale market and grid operations.
Perform analytics with market data.
Develop and maintain knowledge of the wholesale market and ERCOT grid operations to support Market Participant business needs.
Assist in monitoring, forecasting, and analyzing the ERCOT wholesale market.
Assist in monitoring other markets, such as power futures markets and exchanges, to derive insights into external factors impacting ERCOT market outcomes.
Generate and maintain market reports per request.
Test and validate changes to applications used by department members.
Develop understanding of competitive energy markets and trends in ERCOT and other North American and international markets.
Escalate issues to supervisors or managers when necessary.
Establish strong working relationships with internal departments.
Proactively model, forecast, and resolve future issues and opportunities within the ERCOT wholesale market and grid operations.
Process ad-hoc and historical data extract/report requests, ensuring compliance with protocols and confidentiality rules.
Support management and senior experts in providing technical assistance and strategic insights to PUCT, industry, stakeholder groups, and the public.
Attend stakeholder, industry, and PUCT meetings as directed.
Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of market mechanics, business processes, and ERCOT systems.
Perform engineering studies using ERCOT network models to analyze system conditions and events.
Develop, test, and validate changes to applications developed by the department.

Requirements

Proficiency in programming languages like Python, database tools like SQL, and data visualization tools like Power BI.
Strong Excel skills for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
Problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of statistical concepts and techniques for data analysis.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
For Level 2: Minimum 1 year of job-related work experience beyond degree requirements.
For Level 3: Minimum 3 years of job-related work experience beyond degree requirements.
Knowledge of power engineering and electricity market theory preferred for entry level; required for more advanced levels.

Salary range of $82,344 - $131,720, based on experience.
