About the Role

A client is seeking a PR & Marketing Consultant specializing in Theatre and Performing Arts in the Philadelphia Suburbs. The role involves developing and executing marketing and public relations strategies for upcoming productions, managing digital content, coordinating events, and supervising junior staff. The position offers a contract through the end of September with flexible hours and on-site or hybrid work options, along with benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute marketing and public relations strategies for upcoming performing arts productions
  • Research and create press releases, advertising copy, brochures, playbills, e-blasts, and digital content
  • Manage and update website and social media platforms to promote upcoming events and audience engagement
  • Coordinate one special event (opening night party)
  • Lead promotional media buying, including designing and placing ads, managing exchanges, and playbill ad sales
  • Supervise the work of a graduate assistant or junior marketing staff
  • Ensure consistent branding across all channels and deliverables

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Theatre, Communications, Marketing, or related writing-intensive field (strongly preferred)
  • Master's degree in a related field (preferred)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in marketing/public relations, ideally in the arts or entertainment industry
  • Strong writing and editing skills; ability to craft professional press and promotional materials
  • Project management experience and ability to juggle multiple deadlines
  • Experience supervising junior team members or interns
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with website content management, ticketing systems, and social media platforms (preferred)

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with promotional design and ad creation
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), desktop publishing, or similar software
  • Comfortable on both Mac and PC platforms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Master's degree (preferred)
