About the Role

The Senior Risk Management Specialist, also known as the Project Risk & Opportunity Management Lead (PROM Lead), is responsible for enhancing the Risk Management discipline within McDermott. This role impacts customer, operational, project, and service activities by maintaining and updating the Risk & Opportunity Register, facilitating risk communication, and promoting a culture of risk awareness across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Project's Risk & Opportunity Register (ROR), ensuring all risks are documented, reviewed, and reassessed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Regularly update the Risk Register to capture new risks, assign risk owners, and track risk responses to ensure mitigation efforts are implemented successfully.
  • Finalize the Risk Register on a monthly basis with the Project Controls Manager and Project Director and issue for project review and action.
  • Facilitate risk workshops and interface with stakeholders to gather necessary information for risk management.
  • Identify and categorize new project risks and opportunities in collaboration with the project team.
  • Perform qualitative assessments of risks pre- and post-mitigation, and conduct quantitative assessments based on team inputs.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of PROM reports and provide data, presentations, and materials for risk-related meetings.
  • Promote a project-wide culture of risk awareness and facilitate regular risk communication with senior management, sponsors, and external stakeholders.
  • Adhere to McDermott’s internal risk management processes and perform any other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related fields, or 7-10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Problem-solving attitude and high level of coordination skills.
  • Effectiveness in prioritizing multiple tasks and managing efforts to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with multifunctional teams and as a team leader or member.
  • Decision making and critical thinking skills.
  • Understanding of project scope, schedule, and potential event risks.
  • Data gathering and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Effective written and spoken communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with constructability concepts and workflow processes between Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Construction.
  • Understanding of contractual requirements and project execution plans.
