Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze multiple data sources from cross-disciplinary teams to identify trends and patterns using engineering fundamentals.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports to stakeholders of varying scientific fields.
  • Summarize and socialize data, make conclusions and provide direction on problems identified.
  • Effectively generate ideas and support building tools to automate analysis processes.
  • Strongly communicate and visualize data to articulate findings.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems, data analytics, and strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Design, model, and document the logical and conceptual relationships of data and database changes for metrics and analytics.

Requirements

  • Comfort with requirements-analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and root-cause analysis to ensure data accuracy, repeatability, and explainability.
  • Solid communication skills (written, verbal, and visual) to convey data and analysis conclusions.
  • Ability to create and present data reports to support investigations.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Development and programming of tools to improve pipeline efficiency, eliminate repetitive tasks, and implement new analysis techniques.
  • Basic qualifications for a Principal Data Scientist include a Bachelor's degree in a technical area with 5 years of relevant experience (or 3 years with a MS, or PhD with no experience), knowledge of data gathering, cleansing, and transformation techniques, experience with Python and Tableau, and proficiency with Python packages such as pandas, numpy, and matplotlib.
  • Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal Data Scientist include a Bachelor's degree in a technical area with 8 years of relevant experience (or 6 years with a MS, or 4 years with a PhD), and similar technical skills as above.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance; US citizenship required.

Nice to Have

  • Product Lifecycle experience.
  • Proficient using query languages such as SQL.
  • Experience mentoring and leading peers in data science projects.
  • Strong applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • JMP proficiency (SAS statistical tool) and experience scripting in JSL.
  • MATLAB experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical area with 5 years of relevant experience for Principal level, or 8 years for Sr. Principal level.
  • Knowledge of data gathering, cleansing, and transformation techniques.
  • Experience with Python, Tableau, and Python packages such as pandas, numpy, and matplotlib.
  • Ability to develop and present data visualizations for scientific analysis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance; US citizenship required.

  • Salary range from $115,800 to $173,800, or $144,300 to $216,400 depending on the position.
  • Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may be available.
