About the Role

The Product Manager Metal Detection is responsible for leading the management of the Metal Detection Inspection Systems within the PIUS Producing Organization (PIUS-PO). As the Product Owner, the role is the primary advocate for the Metal Detection product line and its customers within the organization. The individual must have a complete understanding of production processes and capabilities of PIUS-PO to effectively manage the product portfolio, monitor profitability, and identify areas for improvement. The role involves collaboration across various teams to ensure successful product development, deployment, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with counterparts within PIUS-PO, the Metal Detection Strategic Business Unit (SBU), and the Marketing Organizations (MOs) to identify strategies, market requirements, applications, and product capabilities within the PLM framework.
  • Acts as Product Owner for all locally developed and maintained Metal Detection products, leading Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) and Product Compliance programs, initiatives, and deliverables.
  • Leads industrialization efforts and is the local Product Owner for deploying SBU / globally developed products for Metal Detection within PIUS-PO to bring products to market efficiently, cost-effectively, on time, and in compliance with standards.
  • Ensures profitability of the products by actively monitoring margins, proactively identifying improvement areas, and executing plans to realize benefits.
  • Champions product definition, compliance, and standardization through management of Variant Configurators (VC), Offline Configurators (OLC), Technical Product Guides (TPG), Technical Construction Files (TCF), and other tools for efficient and profitable system creation.
  • Works with Operations, Planning, Scheduling, and Supply Chain Management on forecasts for critical components and manufacturing processes.
  • Leads the cross-discipline Metal Detection Value Stream Management Team to increase customer satisfaction by reducing problem machines and warranty events.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines within MO and PO on service issues, special applications, custom offerings, and options, supporting channel partners and end-user customers as needed.

  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess situations and formulate plans.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering with a minimum of two years of direct work experience in Engineering, Project, or Product Management, or a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Sound product knowledge, preferably in product inspection and/or the packaging industry.
  • Working knowledge of PLM, AQP, CAPA, ECM, and ISO-based processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in product inspection and/or the packaging industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of direct experience in Engineering, Project, or Product Management, or at least 8 years of relevant experience without a degree.
