About the Role

Program Manager needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client to work onsite in Newark, NJ. The role involves supporting large information technology projects for utility clients, driving the execution and successful delivery of an IT program, and ensuring projects align with the company's mission, vision, and values. The position requires being in a commutable distance to Newark, NJ, with occasional onsite presence as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an IT program by providing oversight of projects within the program, including managing the program budget and ensuring the program meets schedule and scope targets.
  • Drive stakeholders through the project lifecycle by managing expectations and timelines to meet project goals.
  • Monitor risks, issues, dependencies to minimize impact across the portfolio.
  • Ensure IT projects are aligned with business initiatives such as communications and meter mass deployment through steady state deployment.
  • Coordinate schedule and objectives across business and IT project initiatives and ongoing operations.
  • Communicate with executive reporting and status updates to IT and business senior management.
  • Provide an escalation point for project issues and problem resolution.
  • Monitor, approve, and ensure delivery of project deliverables throughout the lifecycle, including the Project Execution Plan, Project Schedule, Monthly Cost Forecast Review, Project Status Reports, Test Management Plan, Deployment Management Plan, Operational Readiness, and Risk/Issue/Action/Decisions/Dependency Log.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, or similar field with 12+ years of relevant work experience, or additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with IT project management methodologies and working with a Project Management Office through a stage gate process.
  • Experience managing program team members and outsourced vendors as part of program execution.
  • Excellent decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with effective presentation skills.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to develop working relationships with the program team, other IT teams, and the business areas.
  • Ability to work independently, follow through on assignments with minimal direction, and keep the team informed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and other guidelines where appropriate.

Nice to Have

  • Domain knowledge in the utility industry is preferable.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, or related platforms.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a background investigation and drug urinalysis.

Benefits & Perks

  • Estimated pay range from $59.62 to $85.17 per hour.
  • Potential for contract extension beyond 6 months.
