The Project Controls Specialist I (PCSI) or Project Controls Specialist II (PCSII) positions are responsible for developing analytical systems for routine project controls assignments, supporting project managers on various projects and programs, and supporting team growth through ongoing learning and improvement. These roles involve assisting in the setup and review of project controls status such as cost, contract, WBS, schedule, and resources, using standard methods and tools, with a foundational understanding of project controls principles and software tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop/Generate Periodic Project Controls Communications and assist in the development and generation of project controls routine analytics for communication(s) prescribed by the business unit.
  • Lead the data collection, verification, validation, and analysis of data to support project controls communications.
  • Responsible for distributing and archiving project controls reports as appropriate.
  • Provide presentation quality reports and communications to project and management teams and be available to present if needed.
  • Lead and perform change control, track and manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Identify, assess, gain approval, and distribute change requests, change notices, or change orders in compliance with internal standards and contract terms.
  • Support team in audit reviews and communications.
  • Coordinate project controls benchmarking and self-assessment initiatives relevant to project types.
  • Coordinate improvement opportunities and adoption of best practices to address performance gaps.
  • Lead development and maintenance of project schedules, cost estimates, systems to track cash flow, project change control management, and project controls communications.
  • Support systems to track and communicate project status, perform analyses, and create/maintain project estimates describing scope, schedule, and cost details.
  • Manage estimates to address project scope, materials, resources, labor, owner-furnished equipment, engineering, contract costs, industry data, and risks.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders, resolve quality issues, and complete assignments within budgets and schedules.

Requirements

  • Project Controls Specialist I: Associate's degree in project management, Business Administration, Finance, or Engineering, or High School/GED with two (2) years related work experience.
  • Project Controls Specialist II: Associate's degree in project management, Business Administration, Finance, or Engineering with two (2) years minimum related work experience, or High School/GED with five (5) years related work experience.
  • Proficiency/expertise with project management and project controls concepts, computer applications, and analytics.
  • Experience with Primavera P6.
  • Strong collaborative team member.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Project Management Professional and/or Certified Associate of Project Management and/or AACE certifications (e.g., PSP, CEP, CCC, EVP, PMI-SP).
  • Experience with software such as MS Project/MS Office Suite, Primavera (P6 and Team Member), Business Objects, Passport, PowerPlan, Emax, Peoplesoft.
  • Knowledge of risk management tools and Monte Carlo analysis.
