About the Role

Power your future with Qualus as a Project Manager on our Engineering team. The Project Manager at Qualus is responsible for leading and managing engineering, engineer-procure (EP), and engineer-procure-construct (EPC) projects with a focus on high-voltage electrical substations. Our Project Managers play an important role in the growth and are responsible for the successful initiation, planning, execution, control, and close-out of major electric transmission, distribution, and substation projects. The successful candidate must possess the ability to successfully navigate through and resolve complex and oftentimes multi-functional challenges associated with multiple complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering components of projects across all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with internal and external standards and processes.
  • Oversee and track project scope, budget, cost, scheduling, and change control from initiation to close-out.
  • Identify project risks early and develop proactive mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and internal team members.
  • Serve as a key decision-maker on engineering project matters, accountable for project outcomes.
  • Contribute to internal process improvements and support the development of project control standards and tools within Qualus.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, coordinating closely with internal teams and clients to manage impacts and updates.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports; effectively communicate project progress to stakeholders including clients, agencies, and internal teams.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings (bi-weekly or monthly), document meeting outcomes, and follow through on action items.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering; Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in electric utility substation projects is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, utility interconnection requirements, renewable energy, and large-load industrial infrastructure is preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent experience in project controls, including scope, schedule, and cost management.
  • Skilled in problem analysis, solution development, and implementing actions to meet project objectives.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, including status updates and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project); scheduling experience with MS Project or Primavera P6 is a plus.
  • Ability to consistently deliver results, demonstrates high work standards, and understands business processes.
  • Self-motivated, committed to continuous improvement, and driven by integrity and professional excellence.

  • Scheduling experience with MS Project or Primavera P6.
