Job Description

About the Role

With millions of users in 178 countries, Spotify has transformed the way people access, discover, and enjoy music and podcasts. We are now looking for a Project Manager to drive initiatives that create more meaningful connections between artists and fans. The Music team plays an important role as the interface between our listeners, artists, and other music industry constituents. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of product related music projects and strategies designed to improve both the music discovery experience and to help artists find their audience. Your counterparts will primarily be teams in Product and Partnerships, but you will also deal with Marketing, Legal, Data Science, Design etc. The Music Partner GTM team represents the 'bridge' between Music Partnerships, Editorial, and our Product teams. The team's mission is to ensure new products designed for artist expression and music discovery are optimized to meet the needs of Spotify's top partners including artists, labels, and management companies. Music Product Specialists are responsible for artist pilots, content strategy, and industry adoption of our suite of Audience Development products (including Marquee, Showcase, Discovery Mode, Spotify for Artists, etc). Your work will be highly strategic and will have a direct impact on the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage stakeholder relationships and strategic projects in collaboration with the Music Team, R&D, and Product Marketing, focusing on helping artists better understand, build, and engage their music audience on Spotify, while evolving the listener experience.
  • Drive new product initiatives from concept to rollout, helping early stage products find product-market fit through close partnership with music industry partners.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance for cross-functional workstreams related to the artist and listener experiences alongside key stakeholders.
  • Ensure Music Team alignment with product roadmap and funded initiatives.
  • Recommend and operationalize recruitment strategy and communications for product pilots, connecting product to both internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Build systems for managing partner relationships and collecting feedback in partnership with User Research, ensuring partner adoption goals are met.
  • Translate technical product solutions into clear and concise narratives for Spotify's partner facing teams in partnership with Product Marketing.
  • Run effective meetings, remove blockers, and hold workgroup members accountable for their action items, constantly striving to improve processes and ways of working.
  • Depending on the setting, assume different project roles—sometimes leading, sometimes supporting.

Requirements

  • 3+ years related experience in a strategy or operations role in music, media, or entertainment, from a consultancy firm, or from another complex business setting.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects from start to finish, and familiarity with models, methods, and frameworks to do so efficiently.
  • Proven ability to influence others, adapt skillsets, and apply experience in different ways as required by the situation.
  • Experience driving change and impact in a rapidly changing environment, and interfacing with stakeholders across different disciplines and time zones.
  • Highly analytical with experience sourcing and interpreting data, and confident in making decisions based on data.
  • Strong storytelling skills to share information in an inspiring, coherent, and compelling way.
  • Ability to build relationships and instill trust in others.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements and communicate clearly at all levels.
  • Curiosity and tenacity in attacking unfamiliar problems, with a great appetite for learning.
  • Genuine interest in the music industry, streaming mechanics, and the impact on the creator community.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the music industry or with music-related products.
  • Familiarity with product development and go-to-market strategies in tech or entertainment sectors.

Qualifications

  • Relevant work history of 3+ years in strategy or operations roles in music, media, or entertainment.

Benefits & Perks

  • Health insurance
  • Six month paid parental leave
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Monthly meal allowance
  • 23 paid days off
  • 13 paid flexible holidays
