About the Role

Chubb Personal Risk Services offers an array of property and casualty insurance products for individuals and families with fine homes and possessions. Our clients include many of the most affluent families in the world, executives, business owners and top collectors of art, jewelry, wine and automobiles. The company is seeking a Business Development Manager for the Harrisburg and Philadelphia territory, with a preference for candidates living in PA or near the branch offices. This external facing sales role involves managing a book of approximately 100 agents, focusing on profit, growth, and market share expansion, as well as agency relationship management, new client acquisition, and renewal client management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop agency assessments and business plans with assigned independent agencies to grow new business, retain existing clients, and cross-sell products.
  • Identify new clients with annual premiums of $5,000 to $250,000+ through pipeline development, account pre-qualification, and territory analysis, leading to closing deals.
  • Follow up on quotes for new and existing clients and optimize quotes with agents.
  • Manage renewal retention by positioning rate and exposure changes using value-based selling techniques.
  • Set best practices for premier account segment new and renewal tables.
  • Cross-sell and upsell existing clients via account rounding initiatives.
  • Support assigned agencies through training on Chubb’s products, services, and competitive advantages.
  • Address agency inquiries related to billing, policy services, claims, commissions, and licensing.
  • Coordinate home office initiatives and marketing campaigns, including attending events.
  • Adhere to a disciplined sales process and document activities in Salesforce.
  • Analyze book results to identify agency and territory trends.
  • Develop and maintain trusted agency relationships primarily through in-person travel.
  • Participate in internal meetings and report on results.
  • Collaborate with agents and underwriting on new clients, retention, and cross-selling efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in personal lines sales, marketing, underwriting, claims, risk consulting, or agency experience.
  • Experience selling to successful individuals and families is preferred.
  • Results-oriented with a proven track record of high sales performance.
  • Strong adaptability and ability to handle multiple demands and priorities.
  • Excellent customer engagement skills, including building rapport and establishing trust.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve inquiries and issues.
  • Sales acumen with disciplined sales process knowledge, Salesforce proficiency, and negotiation skills.
  • Influence management skills to communicate effectively and persuade others.
