About the Role

Under the supervision of the Public Information Specialist 2 (Digital Content), the Public Information Specialist 1 (Digital Content) will support the DCJS Public Information Office by creating compelling, mission-driven content across web and social media platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong visual storytelling skills and a passion for using video, photography, and strategic messaging to inform and engage the public.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and produce original video and photo content for agency website and social media channels.
Script, film, and edit videos to highlight agency initiatives, events, and personnel.
Capture high-quality photos for web, social, and internal communications use.
Draft and structure web and social content clearly, with an emphasis on accessibility and engagement.
Monitor and respond to web and social analytics.
Tailor messaging and visuals in response to audience behavior and platform performance.
Support agency campaigns by collaborating with communications staff to develop cohesive digital assets.
Assist with web content updates using Drupal CMS.
Coordinate with program staff on content needs, ensuring alignment with public safety goals.
Track relevant current events and agency news to inform timely, topical content.

Requirements

Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.
An associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree substitutes for two, four, or five years of specialized experience.

Qualifications

Experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.
Ability to create visual content including video and photography.
Experience with web content management systems such as Drupal.
