As a Quantitative Analytics/Modeling Consultant Sr. within PNC's Internal Audit organization, you can be based in various locations including Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Charlotte, Raleigh, Chicago, New York City, Dallas, Washington DC, or Birmingham. The role involves supporting the internal audit function through quantitative analysis, model validation, and risk assessment, utilizing cutting-edge technology and promoting innovation, data analytics, and process automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform complex quantitative analyses and develop models to support decision-making and run quantitative strategies.
  • Develop new model frameworks, support line of business, and refine, monitor, and validate existing models.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments of models, including theoretical aspects, design, implementation, data quality, and integrity.
  • Review model documentation and validation reports to ensure conceptual soundness and regulatory compliance, documenting findings in audit workpapers and potential issues.
  • Perform ongoing issue monitoring, remediation testing, and follow-up to ensure management completes required actions and regulatory matters are addressed.
  • Use data analytic and alternative modeling techniques to challenge datasets and models developed by model developers.
  • Support meetings with clients and regulators, assist in preparing agendas and documenting minutes.
  • Stay informed on latest modeling techniques, academic research, and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Sound statistical, mathematical, and analytical background to understand quantitative risk models.
  • Experience with statistical and financial modeling software or programming languages such as SAS, Python, R, and SQL.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to build strategic relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with both quantitative and non-quantitative members.
  • Knowledge of regulations such as CECL, CCAR, Anti-Money Laundering, Fair Lending is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably a Masters or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics.
  • Typically 5-8 years of experience in modeling or quantitative analytics in financial services.
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills, with ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Interest or experience in providing peer mentorship and support.

Qualifications

  • Higher education such as a Masters or PhD in a quantitative field is preferred.
  • Industry relevant experience typically 8+ years.
  • No required certifications or licenses.
