About the Role

The Regional Account Manager (RAM) position is within our Hematology and Nephrology Franchise, a division of Alexion, and will focus on aHUS. The RAM will be assigned a sales territory focused on Academic Centers, Community Hospital Systems, Physician Clinics, and Infusion Centers primarily focused on Nephrology and Hematology. This individual would be responsible for the growth and expansion of the aHUS portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently achieving or exceeding sales objectives in assigned territory
  • Creating and maintaining strategically targeted account-specific business plans that reflect an in-depth understanding of local market forces impacting product sales
  • Developing and maintaining strong in-depth clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge
  • Collaborating closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders, including PNH Regional Account Manager(s), TLL(s), SAL(s), MSL(s), FRM(s), PEM(s), Market Access, Diagnostics, and enterprise partners
  • Handling customer questions and objections in a way that is consistent with product indications and sales training methodology, including ability to compliantly triage inquiries to appropriate partner
  • Educating on the clinical approach to specific disease states, leading to a successful differential diagnosis and appropriate testing of focus patient populations
  • Understanding and demonstrating proper use of products to clinicians in hospital and infusion center environments
  • Leading the implementation for our patient-centric partnership model which will include physicians, their staff, patients, clinics, and hospitals
  • Utilizing CRM tools to manage time, resources, and workload including accurately tracking sales activities and submitting required reports
  • Executing local promotional activities and programs for therapeutic areas
  • Providing a high level of product expertise and customer service to all accounts
  • Proactively interacting with Alexion management to refine product and market initiatives
  • Adhering to all Alexion's Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience (e.g., Biotech or Medical Device) or 5 years' experience in a medical setting
  • Proven, documented track record for delivering consistent, 'Top-tier' sales results in Institutions and hospital systems
  • Ability to work independently as well as interdependently in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong clinical acumen and account-based selling, analytical and strategic skills
  • Ability to seek out and qualify leads and profile new accounts
  • Ability to gain consistent access & develop strong, professional relationships with healthcare providers in community and academic centers
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities
  • Must live in the geographic territory or within 50 miles of the territory border
  • Ability to travel within territory regularly, including overnight and weekend travel
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Comfortable working in a field environment, including clinical settings, using a computer, and engaging via phone, video, and electronic messaging

Nice to Have

  • Advanced or master's degree
  • Bio/Pharma; Nephrology, and/or Oncology experience
  • Sales experience in the orphan or ultra-orphan area

Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical sales, biotech, or medical device fields
  • Strong clinical and account-based selling skills
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel within the territory regularly

Benefits & Perks

  • Annual base salary ranging from $152,813 to $229,219, depending on factors
  • Short-term incentive bonus opportunity
