Research Assistant/Data Analyst- Youth Justice

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Data Director and Data Manager in planning and executing data collection and analysis for multiple research projects, with a focus on Youth Justice.
• Act as the lead team member for a specific administrative data set and support other lead members on their data sets.
• Assist with data collection, entry, coding, cleaning, and merging of multiple administrative data sets.
• Conduct data analysis including descriptive, bivariate, predictive, and longitudinal methods.
• Write reports for funders and interested parties, and prepare manuscripts and presentations for academic dissemination.
• Proficiently manage and manipulate databases using SPSS, Excel, and other analytic programs.
• Travel to site visits and meetings across Michigan, and work collaboratively with team members both on campus and virtually.
• Attend team meetings and planning sessions, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• An advanced degree such as a master's, PhD, or PhD candidate with prior experience working with administrative data.
• Advanced skills in database management (e.g., SPSS, Excel).
• Experience with advanced analytic approaches, including multivariate statistics.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Content knowledge and research experience in youth justice data and systems.
• Experience in writing peer-reviewed publications using advanced statistics is desirable.
• Transportation across Michigan is required.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of SQL and/or R.
• Located in the Detroit area.

Qualifications

• Master's degree, PhD, or PhD candidacy with relevant experience.

Benefits & Perks

• Full-time employment with an annual salary ranging from $55,000 to $85,000.
