Sales Manager - Transit (Midwest)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and target new business opportunities within the transit and fare collection sectors. Develop and implement strategic plans to expand our client base and achieve sales targets.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in transit agencies and related organizations. Provide exceptional service and support to existing clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
• Create and execute sales strategies that align with company goals. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential clients, demonstrating the value and benefits of our fare collection solutions.
• Conduct market research (collaborating with the marketing team) to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies. Utilize this information to identify new opportunities and refine sales approaches.
• Work closely with internal teams, including product development, marketing, and customer support, to ensure alignment and successful execution of client projects and initiatives.
• Monitor and report on sales performance, market trends, and competitive activity. Provide regular updates to management on progress towards sales goals and key account developments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in related field; Business, Marketing, or Communications.
• 3 - 5+ years of proven sales experience in the transit, fare collection, or related industries.
• Demonstrated success in securing new business and managing key government accounts.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, to meet with clients, visit offices, and attend industry events.
• Willingness to work outside of traditional business hours to accommodate business needs.
• Possess and maintain an unrestricted driver's license in good standing.
• Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strong understanding of fare collection systems, transit operations, and related technologies.
• Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and other sales tools.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and systems.
• Confident decision-making abilities.
• Above average computer skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with industry standards and best practices in transit and fare collection.
• Experience working in a remote environment and managing a territory across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related field; Business, Marketing, or Communications.
• 3 - 5+ years of proven sales experience in relevant industries.
